Lest We Forget

This is the list I have managed to compile of London Irish players and members who lost their lives in the two world wars:

The following is a passage from the Middlesex Chronicle from 25th March 1916.

The Rev. J.R. James (President of the London Irish Rugby Football Club)(Vicar of the Parish), who was present at St. Patrick's Day celebration held under the auspices of the Irish Club, in responding to the toast of the evening, pointed out that over 200 members of the Club were with the Armies in France or abroad, and that seven members of the 1914 London Irish football team had already died for the Empire. No member of the club had died more gallantly than Father Finn, Chaplain to the 3rd Dublin's, who, wounded in the shoulder as the Dublin's landed at Gallipoli, crawled to the wounded comrades and administered extreme unction; again hit in the forehead, he expired, his last words being: "Keep it up boys; we are winning".
