Sean Maitland - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/30931055
Bob Casey wrote:He is the right age, a great character and wants to be a big part of our long-term plan. He is another significant signing and further indication that we want to compete with the best in the Premiership and Europe.

Ben Franks - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/30894615
Bob Casey wrote:It is a real statement of intent that a player of his class and experience has signed and shows the ambition of the club and our owners.

and now Brendan McKibbin - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/30982430
Bob Casey wrote:We have plenty of quality in the scrum-half position and Brendan joining will only strengthen that competition

This is looking really positive.

We normally lose players so the turnaround to signing instead is marvellous.

I would think that McKibbin would be no. 1 choice scrummie, as opposed to strengthening competiton for the position.

Apparently he is a kicking scrumhalf. Kicking seems to be a rather weak area at the moment.

A Quin coming to Irish? We'll be getting players coming back from Bath next!

Bob Casey wrote:Joe is one of the brightest young English talents. He is a top quality player with a great work rate who we feel can add real strength to our back row. He is an ambitious young player who wants to be part of our future.

And goodbye to Tommy Homer

Commenting on the decision to release the player, London Irish Operations Director Bob Casey said, "Having had a number of meetings with Tom about a new contract, it was clear that he wanted to move on. We have plenty of cover in the back three with talented players like Andrew Fenby, Alex Lewington and Topsy Ojo so we are able to agree to Tom's request for early release. We have also signed a top class full back in Sean Maitland for the 2015/16 season. We would like to thank Tom for all he has done for the Club and wish him all the best for the future."

Indeed, goodbye to Tom Homer (that's a shame) and hello to Andy Goode ...

http://www.london-irish.com/h/news/lond ... ner/bp276/

Bob Casey wrote:Andy is a top class player and one of leading goal kickers in the Premiership with an impressive kicking percentage. He has a wealth of experience to offer and is also a leader. He has proven himself as one of the best fly-halves in the Premiership and we are delighted he has signed for us.

hmmm, he may be getting on a bit but ....
The Coventry-born fly-half - and lifelong Sky Blues fan - set a Premiership record of 33 points against the Exiles earlier this season with a fairytale performance on Wasps' first appearance at the Ricoh Arena.

Some great signings.

Hopefully the forwards can create a platform for quick ball, I'm looking forward to the commentary already... "from McKibbin to Goode, kicked to touch in the opposition 22" and so on.

All good signings.
I hope someone is thinking seriously about improving our kicking percentages. We are missing a lot at the moment and it is doing real damage.

I worry about Andy Goode's central adiposity. Very unbecoming.

He may stop off at Sweeney Todds on the way to the stadium but he's still miles better than what we have now and can win games.

... and another signing.

http://www.london-irish.com/news/london ... nal/bp371/

London Irish Rugby Club today announced the signing of Asaeli Tikoirotuma.

Tikoirotuma, who can play both at centre and on the wing, joined Harlequins at the start of the 2014/15 season from Super Rugby outfit the Chiefs where he was a key member of the squad that won two Super Rugby titles.

Bob Casey wrote:Asaeli is a quality player and a real game breaker. He brings a lot of experience with him, in Super Rugby, the Premiership and at international level. Both Tom Coventry and Matt Symons have spoken very highly of him and we are all looking forward to him being part of the squad next season.
